"
Our objective in South Vietnam was never the annihilation of the enemy. We sought to convince Hanoi that its objective - to take the South by force - was unattainable."
- Lyndon B. Johnson, Address to the Nation, March 31, 1968.
Designed by star designer David Kershaw (World War Zed, Albuera 1811, Solitaire Caesar), Vietnam Solitaire Special Edition is a solitaire strategy game based on area control. You raise troops and engage them in combat using Political Points. The game features operations by the U.S. armed forces and the Vietnamese National Army against the insurgency, as well as North Vietnamese and Viet Cong offensives.
In addition to the original campaign and the Special Edition campaign, which cover the entire war, you can also play three scenarios: the 1968 Tet Offensive, the Fall of the South, and the Easter Offensive.
You'll also get to experience a two-player variant. Optional rules are available for South Vietnamese Ruff-Puffs and for the use of B-52s in Laos and Cambodia.
The game box contains:
- A 43 x 28 cm map on which all the game's charts and tracks are printed
- 88 counters and markers (laser cut, high thickness)
- a 4-page booklet for the original rules
- an 8-page booklet for the Special Edition rules
- a 3-page booklet for the Easter Offensive scenario
