The 17th century saw the recruitment of vast armies across Europe who clashed in bloody wars that decided ultimate temporal and divine authority.

Cannon emplacement, also known as gabions, these military fortifications were made of wicker and shaped like large round cages with an open top and bottom. They were used, mainly in Pike & Shotte's day, to protect gunners from field artillery.
