The garden is full of geckos, busy capturing insects and looking for new places to hide.
Each player represents five geckos who must work together to capture as many insects as possible and achieve objectives to score victory points. Objectives come in two forms: creating chains between geckos to link certain types of insect, or simultaneously occupying certain types of terrain. Players have a continuous hand of 3 terrain tiles, and receive a secret bonus at the start of the game (a certain type of insect or terrain).
On their turn, players place a terrain tile (containing a mix of 3 patterns) next to a board tile with a corresponding terrain side, and place a gecko on the corresponding pattern across both tiles. If the placed tile completely surrounds a previously placed tile, the bug on the surrounded tile is awarded to the player who placed the most geckos on that tile. In addition, if the gecko placed causes an insect sequence on the target market and/or a terrain sequence, the player is awarded the corresponding target(s).
The end of the game is triggered when a player reaches six objectives or when the last available tile is drawn.
Each objective card has listening points on its underside. The winner of the game is the player who, at the end of the game, has accumulated the highest number of error points (objectives + assigned tiles + secret bonus).
Garden Geckos blends tactical tile placement with the excitement of insect collecting, strategically achieving secret and common objectives along the way. As the garden grows and the geckos move, players must balance resource management and strategic foresight to become master of this charming insect-filled kingdom.
