In 1795, the Hawaiian Islands were divided amongst competing Ali'l, or high chiefs. A civil war (known as the "Unification of Hawaii") took place for control of the entire chain. This game pits Hawaiian King Kamehameha I against two smaller kingdoms, Maui and Oahu.
The active opposing sides are the Hawaiian Player (HP) vs. the Oahu Player (OP). Maui units only enter play via a Strategem chit. A combat unit (and King/Chief pieces) represents around 1,000 warriors (and their sea canoes).
