Keep your armies supplied and liberate German-occupied Europe!
This new edition includes the updated original game and four different expansions, allowing 1 to 4 players to recreate the experience of crossing the plains, villages and towns of France and the Benelux countries in an exciting race to be the first Allied commander to cross the German border on the Rhine.
Keep'em Rolling: Race to the Rhine, the first in a series of logistics-focused Euro-style war games from PHALANX, offers a unique approach to conducting military campaigns. The game focuses on the importance of supplying your constantly advancing units with fuel, ammunition and food, then moving them through enemy territory. It also highlights the internal rivalry between the most prominent Allied commanders, each seeking to be the first to reach Germany, with the hope of ending the Second World War before Christmas.
Players take it in turns to control an army of three or four corps, and perform two actions per turn. You can move a corps (and fight, if you encounter Axis troops), pick up supplies, take trucks, transport provisions or use Allied air supremacy. Each corps needs fuel to move, ammunition to fight Axis units and food to feed its soldiers, so a skilful combination of actions is needed to achieve success. On the move, corps can be helped by the French Resistance, capture abandoned Axis supplies and encounter crowds of civilians who may celebrate the liberation - or ask for food for the hungry.
A commander automatically wins if one of his corps enters and captures an area on the other side of the Rhine. However, to claim victory, the commander must have a continuous connection of Allied-controlled areas from the objective to his supply base. If no one achieves automatic victory, then the commander with the most medals wins.
New features in this edition include:
- Anvil: a modular expansion for the base game, expanding it to 4 players. The fourth player takes command of the Allied landing operation and invasion of Provence in the south of France in the late summer of 1944.
- OB West: a bot-based solitaire variant of the basic game that reacts to players' actions, providing a challenge for even the most experienced players.
- Red Ball Express: a modular variant for the base game that reduces randomness and introduces weather conditions as well as the formidable threat of a German counter-offensive.
- These Are My Credentials: a stand-alone solitaire game played on a separate board. The race is not to the Rhine, but to the ports of Brittany, to capture them before the Germans reinforce their positions and destroy the port facilities.
