Galoche is a traditional outdoor game.
It originated as a fairground game played in Normandy. Traces of the game appeared in the Cotentin region and more generally in Normandy before spreading to the rest of France. This very popular game could also be played for money. There are different versions depending on the region, such as galine, jeu de butte, jeu du bouchon, pitao, etc.
It is a simple game that is easy to transport, the aim of which is to knock over the piboche (wooden cylinder) in order to win the tokens placed on top of it. The piboche is also known by various other names: pibot, bouchon, tao, etc. It was a game played for money, with coins instead of tokens.
There is no real limit to the number of players, but 3 to 4 players is ideal for taking turns regularly.
