Connect the islands with the appropriate number of bridges to score points.

To begin, all players decide which side of the board to use; each side has 18 islands: 4 with a red flag, 3 with a blue flag, and all the others without a flag. Write a 3 or a 4 on an island with no flag, then give that board to the player to your left. Remove one of the 18 numbered cards from the shuffled deck without revealing it.

On your turn, reveal a card, which will show a number (1-6) and a number of decks. Write the number on an island that does not yet have a number, writing on a marked island only if it has at least one bridge connected to it. Then draw the number of bridges shown on the map to connect the numbered islands to adjacent islands orthogonally, noting that :

  •         Bridges cannot be crossed.
  •         No more than two bridges can connect orthogonally adjacent islands.
  •         The number of bridges connected to an island cannot exceed the number of that island

You may skip one or both parts of this map, if you wish or if you are forced to do so. If the number of bridges touching an island is equal to the number on that island, circle that number. If you are the first player to circle all red-flagged islands, all blue-flagged islands, or six connected islands of any type, you score a bonus and all other players scratch that bonus; they score only a lower-value bonus if they accomplish any of these objectives on a later turn.

After 17 cards have been revealed and played, players then score 2 points for each island circled, in addition to any bonus points. The player with the highest score wins!

To play Hashi solo, you play the same way, but you only score bonuses if you complete objectives within a certain number of rounds.
