The amnesiac characters wake up in the hospital without knowing why and without being able to leave. The White Coats are as apathetic as they are unfriendly, the Superiors as conspiratorial as they are sadistic and the other patients as sane as they are disturbed. Strange events are stirring things up, the corridors are endless, the walls and the insects talk and, during the lottery, beware of drawing number 13...

Patient 13 is a contemporary role-playing game... fantastic for some, psychotic for others.
It is a hallucinatory closed-door game; a compartmentalised and yet open universe like no other; a frightening and dilapidated, organic and icy setting; but above all it is an experience to read, to live and to play.

Blouse blanche edition in PDF version:

This ‘Blouse blanche edition’ is the reissue of the role-playing game published by John Doe in 2007 (and then in 2009) and which has been out of print for a couple of years.

This *definitive* version can be considered as a version 1.2 (1.5 depending on your graphic sensitivity) in the sense that the bulk of the work and the differences are visual:
  • the layout has been completely redone: a little more raw, black, cold, clinical and sanitised too.
  • certain elements and boxes have been repositioned or emphasised to improve ergonomics (ease of reading, assimilation of information and use during play),
  • the text is 99% identical but has been cleared of spelling mistakes, missing accents and a few ungainly turns of phrase or ambiguous formulations,
  • some visuals of characters that could not be included in the previous edition due to the number of pages to be respected have been added (the assistant to Superior Stein, the Secretary to Superior Nibelung, the Hand Eater),
  • numerous flashbacks (visuals for pleasure) have been added in line with the new layout,
  • a few missing corridor noises (3-4) have been added and the 75 are more or less hidden all over the layout,
  • the consultations chapter (inner demons) has been enhanced with 13 Rorschach tests (directly inspired by the ‘real’ tests) that can be used immediately during the games, the patient sheet has been redesigned and developed (and designed to be printed in A4 and folded),
  •  a music playlist available on YouTube is now offered to add to the atmosphere of the game.
This role-playing game contains:
  • a description of everyday life in the hospital: laws, duties, crimes, sanctions,
  • as complete a description as possible of the hospital and its various rooms,
  • an overview of the Superiors, patients (all illustrated) and other occupants of the premises,
  • a short game system (based on 3D6) intended to fade into the background behind the Doctor's descriptions,
  • 5 pre-drawn patients with the disease,
  • master's advice on how to play the game,
  • 13 Rorschach tests to use during the Doctor-Patient consultations,
  • medical artefacts and treatments reviewed,
  • reactive plots to be staged according to the Patients' actions,
  • Thanatos, a 13-session therapy to develop or draw inspiration from,
  • numerous whispers from the corridors concealed in the pages of the game,
  • a music playlist to enhance the atmosphere,
  • many questions, very few answers.
