Many generations have passed since the great disaster. The Earth is growing, consuming everything the Gonefolks built. This reclamation created many new spaces for creatures to venture into, in search of new homes. Spaces that the "Gonefolks" took for their own, except for the small creatures.
The Gonefolks' machines no longer work, but their harmful effects remain.
Making your way won't be easy, my little ones. You must be brave. You'll encounter things you won't understand...
...but, travel carefully my little ones, the spirits of the "Gonefolk" remain trapped in their huge stone dens.
Just like the bands of cats that prowl...
Forests, jungles, reefs, swamps and ponds, and all other parts of the Earth thrive. Cities, towns and vast urban expanses once inhabited by humans have been invaded by nature. Only detritus and ruins remain as reminders that humans once walked the Earth.
You take on the role of small creatures who venture into the spaces once occupied by the now extinct human race. Secure your burrows and nests by retrieving ancient artifacts, recover and discover spaces once occupied by extinct peoples, search for new sources of food...
In the Light of a Faded World includes:
- An ultra-light introduction to role-playing.
- The rules. A lightweight system based on In the Light of a Ghost Star.
- An adventure. The Council would like you to explore the Ghost Mall to see if it contains enough artifacts to secure your burrows and nests for the coming winter, and to provide potential refuges for others to find new places to nest. But beware, rumor has it that a human has been seen wandering the mall corridors...
- A variety of random generation tables. Every table you could possibly need, and probably a few you don't.
- Guides to the different biomes.
- Notes on playing style. Maybe you like playing with 2 players, or maybe you like playing solo.
- References. A little RPG zine about the nature of the real world.
