Court of Blades will organize lavish balls and manipulate the courts, uncover the plots of your rivals, protect the city from arcane dangers, manage your own personal intrigues and scandals, leverage your reputation, connections and more.
Inspired by famous warring families such as the Medici and Pazzis, Shakespeare's Montagues and Capulets, and Game of Thrones' Starks and Lannisters, Court of Blades gives you the chance to play as a talented servant of the new House of Esultare in the great city of Ilrien. The Esultare, composed of the six Major Houses, are considered the most powerful families in the Principalities. They have their own hierarchy, and every citizen of Ilrien knows the position of each house in this order.
You've already risen high, but to secure your place and ensure that the house you serve rises to the highest seat of power in the Principalities, you'll need to learn more about your rival houses, advance your house's agenda, and risk your lives in a world of duplicity and magic. We play to discover whether our noble servants can play the Great Game and win it all, or whether they will fall prey to the machinations of their rivals or their own human weaknesses.
Players will each choose one of our six core books to build their servant, ranging from political mastermind to powerful magician. You can also change the game by choosing one of our two advanced booklets, the Kiss and the Curse. One is bound by fairy blood, the other by dark and forgotten magic.
- The Bravo is a dashing swordsman, quick-witted and unmatched in combat. The Bravo gains xp when he meets a challenge with violence or panache.
- The Falcon is a dangerous bounty hunter, menacing and unflappable in the face of danger. The Falcon gains xp when he meets a challenge through pursuit or observation.
- The Eye is an outstanding agent and infiltrator, more cunning than a pack of foxes and just as difficult to catch. The Eye gains xp when it meets a challenge with stealth or perception.
- The Couth is a streetwise joker, lucky or dangerous enough to get out of the gutter. He gains xp when he meets a challenge with evasion or disorder.
- The Knack is an expert in magic, with arcane power and knowledge of the hidden world. The Knack gains xp when he meets a challenge using arcane knowledge or power.
- The Key is a political genius, able to craft arguments and schemes with ease. The Key earns xp when he meets challenges using expertise or calculation.
- The Kiss is a charmer and magical manipulator with a fairy touch. The Kiss gains xp when he attacks
- The Curse is a haunted revenant who carries weapons.
