In Génial! players take it in turns to place colored domino tiles on a game board, scoring points for each line of colored symbols they enlarge.
The trick, however, is that a player's score is equal to his worst color, not his best, so he has to score points for all colors instead of specializing in just one or two.
The game comprises 120 domino tiles, each made up of two hexagons joined together; each hexagon contains one of the six colors, with most tiles having hexagons of different colors.
Each player has six tiles at his disposal and, on his turn, places a tile on two free hexagons of the game board. For each hex on that tile, he scores one point in that color for each hex of the same color adjacent to it and for each hex in a straight line from that tile. If a player's color score reaches 18, he immediately takes another turn.
