Take a stroll through Savernake in autumn and let yourself be carried away by the enchantment of its flora and fauna!

Autumn is drawing to a close in the Savernake Forest... Help the animals gather and store food for winter!

Foxes, hedgehogs, beavers, owls, rabbits, woodpeckers, wildcats... Up to 23 different types of animal live together in Savernake Forest. At the end of autumn, they're all getting ready for the cold winter with plenty of provisions, and you're there to give them a hand... Or a paw!

To play Savernake Forest, you have two decks of square cards, one representing animals and the other forest paths filled with succulent food. Each player is randomly dealt an animal card, indicating the amount of food it can store and its preferences.

For example, the fox likes eggs, but not berries or nuts. To get the best score, you must try to get each animal to collect its preferred foods.

Three road cards and one animal card are laid out for all players to see. In turn, each player chooses one of these and adds it to his or her forest, always respecting three rules: there can never be two animals on the same road; cards must be adjacent to each other; and no card may be placed outside a 4 x 4 grid. The game ends when all participants have completed their forest, with a total of 16 cards.

Link animals to their favorite food

Throughout the game, players benefit from the help of certain animals, depending on the card they choose from the central market. The rooster will help you get up early, so you can be the first to choose a card on your next turn. The armadillo teaches you to dig better shelters to store more food, so you can take a burrow token and add it to one of your animal cards to increase that animal's storage capacity by 1. The goat teaches you to stay better hydrated, giving you a water drop token that can be associated with a food item and increase its value by 1. Finally, the rabbit helps you attract new animals to your forest.

For players looking for more advanced challenges, the rulebook includes a variant for two players, with a few modifications to increase the difficulty. A great boost for those who have already mastered the basic rules!
