Ladies and gentlemen, come on down - the carnival is coming to town!

In The Grand Carnival, players compete to create the most impressive carnival the city has ever seen. You'll need to carefully plan your carnival layout, build attractions, hire staff and manage crowds, all while learning a few tricks of the trade.

Each turn, players cover a number on their board, then choose an action. The number covered determines the effectiveness of their action - and does not become available again until the next turn - so players should think carefully about which number to use.

 The possible actions are as follows:

- Place a foundation tile: Select a foundation tile to place on your fairgrounds. The higher the number of tiles, the more tile options you have. Each tile is a 2x2 grid and is made up of construction sites and walkways. Attractions can only be placed on the building sites, while visitors can only move on the walkways, so place your tiles carefully.

- Build an Attraction: Select a polyomino attraction and place it on your fairgrounds. The size of the attraction you can choose depends on how many you cover. Larger attractions collect more tickets (and may be worth more points), but may be difficult for guests to move.

- Move a guest: Select a guest token and move it along the aisles of your fairgrounds. The distance a guest can move depends on how many tokens you cover. If a guest moves next to an attraction, place a ticket token on that attraction. If you move enough guests, you can hire a fairground barker; barkers help guests move quickly through your fair, but take up valuable space in your fairgrounds.

After you perform your action, see if you can benefit from any of the three "Tricks of the Trade" cards. Each trick has a condition that must be met before you can unlock its unique ability. Once a player has unlocked a trick, each of their opponents has one turn to fulfill the same condition or lose access to that trick for the rest of the game.

After seven turns, the game ends. Players earn points from sets of attractions of the same size, sets of attractions of each size, carnival barkers, guests who move throughout your park, and their tickets. The player with the most points wins!
