Explore the ends of the world!
Beyond the borders of your fledgling civilization, the great unknown awaits you - a land of vast spaces, a map barely decorated with sketches of fantastic creatures and a note saying "Here come the dragons". Over the ages, your civilization will spread over these lands and meet other emerging nations. But only if you first venture into the unknown as a brave explorer.
Your cities will develop new neighborhoods that will give you new abilities. New forms of government will give you advantages, and the battle is redefined with more armies. Ten new leaders will also allow you to double the number of civilizations you can play with. With Terra Incognita, up to five players can now build their own civilizations and discover new areas, making the expansion an essential addition to the Civilization game!
In Civilization: A New Dawn, all the tiles on the map were laid out at the beginning of the game. You could see your entire world from all sides, and although your empires were progressing on the map, you never had the opportunity to expand beyond your borders into unexplored regions. With the Terra Incognita expansion,
all that changes.
Push the limits of your civilization!
Now, at the beginning of the game, you will establish a central zone of map tiles, with each player's capital tile placed along one edge of the central zone. The resources of these center tiles will certainly be hotly contested between players, and this may cause you to explore new areas in search of an advantage over your opponents. Every time you move a caravan or army, if it's on the edge of the map and on a tile with a capital, you can sacrifice a movement action to explore instead - by drawing a new map tile, attaching it to your edge, and making your world much bigger.
As your world becomes bigger than you ever thought possible, it makes sense that this expansion introduces a fifth player. Terra Incognita includes everything you need to add a fifth player, unlocking new strategies and complexity in your centuries-long journey to establish your empire.
You can now play as ten new leaders. You can play the role of Indonesia, using your extraordinary junks to let your caravans and armies move through the watery spaces of the map. Poland rewards you for diplomacy, while the Zulu leader rewards you for your feats in battle.
