A woman and the ghost of her ancestor battle for control of the same body!
On a week's vacation in Edinburgh, Mary visits Mary King's Close, where her presence attracts the spirit of her long-dead ancestor, now a hungry ghost who wants to live again in Mary's body. In The Mirroring of Mary King, the two Marys engage in a battle for control of the living Mary's mortal body.
Players use control and power cards to exert their influence on Mary King's psyche, represented by 12 tiles arranged on a 4 x 3 grid. These tiles are turned over throughout the game, as players gain or lose control of them. The game is played over five days, from Monday to Friday. Each player has one turn per day, with the ghost player always playing first.
As the week progresses, both mortal and ghost become increasingly exhausted and desperate: the number of control cards they can play decreases, and the number of ideas they can pursue increases. At the end of each player's turn, both players suffer penalties based on the Mary tiles their opponent controls.
