Legion of Honor - is an innovative card game that recreates the personal drama of the Napoleonic Wars.

Using a quick playing, card-driven game system, each player assumes the role of a French soldier - or grognard- starting out as a young sergeant or sous-lieutenant trying to make it in life starting in 1792. Fortunately for the enterprising grognard, he can look forward to over twenty years of continuous war provided courtesy of the Directory and Napoleon!

Against the historical backdrop of major historical events that span the period from the Brunswick Manifesto to The Hundred Days, grognards take advantage of the opportunities that Fate provides to advance their station in life. Or not!

Winning the game is achieved in a number of ways: having the highest award in the Legion of Honor, having the highest military rank or having the most glory or wealth.

The game is entirely suitable solitaire play through six players.

    Un jeu TRÈS original mais qui ne plaira pas à tout le monde ; D'ailleurs ce n'est pas un jeu à proprement parler, plutôt une épopée dont vous êtes un des (modestes) héros, avec de nombreux éléments issus des RPG ; Pas de plateaux de jeu, mais de nombreuses tables et cartes (magnifiques, d'ailleurs) . LES PLUS : -on ressent le jeu fait avec passion -on se sent vraiment immergé dans l'épopée napoléonienne -très adapté au jeu solo -finir maréchal, avec une grande fortune et quelques maîtresses magnifiques ... ou mourir tué en duel par un autre joueur parce qu'on a contrarié son avancement (ou qu'on a couché avec sa femme en son absence !) -tous les aspects de la vie d'un grognard son pris en compte (affectations et demandes de transfert, argent sur soi (on peut se faire dépouiller) ou en sécurité dans une banque à Paris (mais taxé !), et j'en passe des chapitres entiers ... LES MOINS : -niveau correct en anglais nécessaire -parties longues (de 5 à 8 heures, 23 ans de carrière militaire, quand même !) mais qu'on peut facilement séparer en plusieurs parties -jeu fluide, mais règles difficiles à appréhender au début (la première partie est laborieuse ...) -on n'a pas souvent une grande influence sur le déroulement des évenements (rôle assez important du hasard) -peut-être répétitif après quelques parties . Personnellement, j'adore, un de mes jeux préférés ! (être un fana de l'époque napoléonienne aide sans doute un peu ...)
