The .30 calibre M1919 Browning machine gun served as America’s primary medium machine gun throughout the Second World War, and far beyond. A lightweight, air-cooled weapon it proved extremely popular and effective against enemy infantry, whether fired from its tripod, a vehicle pintle mount, or even from the hip in extreme cases.
