Puff billiard is a game of skill from the billiards family, invented by Nicolas Redler in 1894.
The Puff billiard table takes the form of a circular floor, bordered by a strip with four lyre-shaped supports to hold the mouthpieces of four rubber blowing pears - bellows - which can rotate freely.
A circular hole is cut in the track, against the band, opposite each lyre.
The game is played by four players, who, after installing their bellows in one of the supports, try to direct - by projecting jets of air - a small cork ball towards one of the opposing holes, and prevent it from falling into their own.
Each lodged ball costs the player who received it one point. He then throws the ball back onto the track and the game continues.
Players keep track of the points they lose using an abacus placed on the edge of the billiard table near each lyre. The winner is the player who receives the fewest balls on his side.
